1. in the dark au, juvia has no moral compass. for her, there is no right or wrong, good or bad. she does what she wants to, and if it harms people or not, she doesn’t care. ( she has definitely killed many people, however. )

2. she never participated in the battle of fairy tail. she had left on a job and got back to find her guild in ruins, everything deserted. not knowing the full story, she blames herself. she believes the guild disbanded as soon as she was far enough away that she couldn’t catch them in the act. because of course, everyone ran from dread. 

3. juvia had been manipulated and brainwashed by jose to believe she was worthless without his guidance. vulnerable and once again alone after jose had been taken by the council, she has to re-teach herself how to not follow commands, and walks a destructive spiral downwards for a few months, eventually landing in a dark guild. 

4. no one talks to the rain woman. not even the leader of the dark guild. she doesn’t participate in activities of the group, but still wears their insignia. she doesn’t see what they do as wrong, but she also doesn’t think anything is wrong or right, so her judgement on the situation is very skewed. 

5. the rain never goes away. there is no moment of pure awe as clouds part and the sun shines through misty peaks in the sky. her town is deemed the ‘rain village’, and many occupants leave after a few months do to incessant rain. they all run from her dreariness and despair, because no one wants to associate themselves with such a cursed girl. not even a teru teru bozu can help her predicament now.
